The Omen | Connie Britton

“I love Lee Remick in The Omen because she was very American — strong-boned and refined,” Murphy says. “That’s how I think of Connie.” How did Friday Night Lights’ dream wife feel about playing American Horror’s harrowed heroine, who’s “maybe the mother of the Antichrist”? Says Murphy, “She got a kick out of that.”

asker I guess if it'll make you happy I'll try T Dog. But only because I don't think I can handle the sappiness.

It’s not my happiness that I’m worried about, sweetie, it’s yours. [smiles]

asker I got what you are saying. I here it all the time. It doesn't matter how much I try I'm not smart. Not in the numbers sense. I'm alright with History, Reading is boring, and Science confuses me when math becomes involved. Some people can do it, not me T. Dog, not me.

That’s what high school is all about, honey, you come here to find yourself, and learn what you’re good at, and what you’re not. You’re a smart boy, Gamaliel, I’m sure of it. You’re just not working hard enough, because you think you’re can’t be better.

asker No. She didn't tell me but she didn't have to. Things are different. I can feel it. I can not talk to her. The thought of her telling me is too devastating. I would rather just avoid the whole situation all together.

Oh honey, I’m not going to sit here and pretend that I know everything and tell you what to do, but like you said, she is your closest friend. You and I both know that you are not going to avoid her forever. There is no such thing as ‘avoiding’ a problem. You can tell yourself that your are, but the problem will always stay with you. You’ll just be delaying what you have to eventually do, at the least.

If you think that your relationship is broken, I think you’ll find that she’s worth at least an attempt to mend it back again. Real friendships don’t just sink when they hit a wave, sweetie. They overcome it. They rebuild. If she’s worth it to you, then I think you can at least try and face it.

asker I'm going to remain young forever. I'll find a way and when I do I'll make sure to introduce you to my trick. Since you are the only teacher at this school I can listen to for more than ten minutes. [smiles reassuringly] My family has got me covered. I won't need college. My fun doesn't have to stop for anything. It's a comforting thought.

Listen honey, you’ll learn sooner or later that life is not just about parties. It’s about responsibility, thriving to be a better person, to be smart enough to not just learn from your own mistakes, but from other’s as well. Yeah, I admit that you have it all covered now, but as you said it, sweetie, you’re going to remain young forever. Just you. Your family isn’t. What happens when they eventually die? Even your dad can’t set you up for eternity, you know what I mean?

asker [shakes his head] I am not the kind of guy with lots of friends. I have one friend and some acquaintances. Which I'm okay with. I actually prefer it. I am used to being alone, I like being alone, I even go out of my way to be alone. Then she comes along and is... the best friend anyone can ask for. Now I messed it up. My one and only actual friendship.

[folds her arms] Well Dustin, I have been around for many, many years, and one of the most important things I’ve learned is that we tend to be overthink things, especially when it comes ourselves. Let me ask you this, sweetie. This best friend of yours, did she, actually told you that you’ve damaged your friendship with her? Do you even know for sure? Or did you just come to that conclusion yourself?

asker You are never to old for a party T dog, it is the fundamental rule of immortality. [winks] Fun comes first, grades and all that boring stuff will follow. I'm not doing that bad. C's aren't horrific.

You did not just called me ‘T dog’ [chuckles] The thing about immortality is that you feel really old, everyday. [shakes head] uh-uh, there will always be time for fun and games, Gamaliel, but it’s very important to do well in your studies. C’s aren’t going to get you to a good college, Mister!
